Trade and Circular Value Chains: Opportunities for Emerging Economies

On the 14th of October 2022, we hosted a World Circular Economy Forum (WCEF) 2022 Side Event on "Trade and Circular Value Chains: Opportunities for Emerging Economies" together with co-hosts Chatham House and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and knowledge partners the International Trade Centre (ITC) and the European Environmental Bureau (EEB). The event addressed the opportunities and challenges in developing economies to boost circular trade. We looked into policy frameworks currently in place that could be leveraged or revised to support more circular value chains in developing countries and explored solutions to support more circular trade policy frameworks. Panellists from ITC; Ellen MacArthur Foundation; OECD Environment Directorate; Forum on Trade, Environment & the SDGs (TESS); NITI Aayog, Government of India; United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE); EEB; and Circular Innovation Lab participated in the event.
