About
Circular Innovation Lab will join leading experts, policymakers and researchers for a high-level Science-Policy Dialogue focused on aligning plastic pollution efforts with global climate targets.
Hosted at the residence of the Norwegian Ambassador in Copenhagen, this timely event highlights the critical role of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) in addressing emissions across the plastics lifecycle. With global plastic production expected to double or triple by 2050 and with over 2.24 gigatonnes of CO₂ emitted from primary plastic production in 2019 alone, the need for coordinated climate-plastics action is more urgent than ever.
Drawing from the newly released Climate Impacts of Plastics report by GRID-Arendal, the dialogue will explore opportunities to enhance transparency, accountability and climate ambition within the Global Plastics Agreement. It aims to identify key research priorities and advance evidence-based collaboration that supports sustainable production and consumption patterns.
Through this exchange, the event seeks to accelerate convergence between the Global Plastics Treaty and the Paris Agreement, reinforcing the science-policy interface as a critical enabler of collective climate action.
